Our Lineage

Beyond the Forest — The Living Stream of Saddhamma

Bhante Mudita’s training is rooted in the Theravāda Forest Tradition — a lineage of monastic renunciants that emphasizes seclusion, meditation, and the direct realization of liberation. This discipline follows the original training established by Gautama Buddha, who spent much of his life dwelling in the forests of ancient India, training disciples in the Dhamma and establishing the Sangha according to the Vinaya.

Bhante received his full ordination and monastic training at Pa-Auk Forest Monastery in Myanmar, a renowned center of the Theravāda tradition known for its rigorous observance of Vinaya, and systematic training in meditation. He later spent more than a decade living in solitude across the forests of Myanmar and Thailand, undertaking long-term intensive meditation and ascetic practice.

This forest discipline formed the earthly foundation of his training — mastery of Sīla (discipline), Samādhi (concentration), and Paññā (wisdom) — yet his realization extended beyond the limits of the tradition itself. Through deep meditative absorption and direct insight, Bhante entered communion with the true Dhamma (Saddhamma) continues to be upheld by enlightened beings who remain devoted to the preservation of Gautama Buddha’s teaching across worlds.

In this way, Bhante’s lineage bridges both the human and transdimensional Sangha, uniting the Vinaya and Dhamma of the earthly order with the living Saddhamma preserved in the higher realms. His work continues this transmission — restoring the authentic Path of Liberation that leads from the world toward Nibbāna-dhātu, the Deathless Realm.

A Lineage that Bridges Worlds

The Gautama Dhamma Society is the continuation of this living bridge.
It does not represent a sect or reform movement, but the reappearance of the Saddhamma in this world through disciplined preservation and direct realization.

1. Sīla — Guarding the Spirit of the Vinaya

We uphold the Vinaya as the living structure of restraint and renunciation that protects purity and directs the citta toward liberation.

2. Samādhi — Training in Concentration and Insight

Our meditation programs guide practitioners through the original path of Samatha–Vipassanā, cultivating deep Samādhi and clear Paññā, leading to Nibbidā (disenchantment), Virāga (fading of attachment), and Vimutti (liberation from the world).

3. Paññā — Restoration of the True Dhamma

We preserve and teach the Pāli Canon with accuracy and doctrinal precision, restoring its original meaning as the technical Path of Liberation beyond the world (Saṃsāra).

Preserving the Saddhamma — Manifesting the Deathless in This World

Through this lineage — grounded in the Theravāda Forest discipline and guided by the higher transmission of Saddhamma — the Gautama Dhamma Society serves as a living channel of the true Dhamma.
By maintaining the integrity of Vinaya, the realization of Samādhi, and the wisdom of Paññā, the Society ensures that the Deathless (Nibbāna-dhātu) remains visible and accessible to beings who seek release from Saṃsāra.
